2 Recent ATCs

Sharing the ATCs I made for recent craft projects: one was made to record the 4 items I made (accordion book, 4″x6″ tag flip album, tag flip book and 3″ square tag flip album) using Vicki Boutin Colour Study papers and Sticker Book.

This was an easy one, assembled quickly using the paper scraps on the craft table while I’m working on the tag flips. I still have some leftover materials from the collection, must come up with some way to finish up the scraps so that it won’t add to my craft stash.

This second artist trading card uses the same materials as I did for the mixed media hanging display: leather paper cutoff as the base and trimmed photo from the Somerset Studio magazine article for the background. The leather paper is too uneven to write on, so I scribbled the project details on plain scrap paper and glued to the reverse side.

The various decorations – Kaiser Mist sprays, Kaisercraft wooden embellishment, metallic corner plate, Daiso stickers, lace and cork tape – makes this ATC looks like a mini version of the hanging display. A fitting & suitable record of the project!

Two Recent ATCs

Just realised I have yet to share 2 artist trading cards I created to record my recent projects:

The ATC for the little PET film collage cards in envelope album was very easy to make – I simply re-created one of the cards as I found them so very cute!!

However, as the original Daiso message cards are a wee narrower than the standard ATC size of 3.5″ x 2.5″, I cut up a second card and glued the borders along the reverse of the card, to make up for the width.

After I finished making my colour palette notebook, I was left with some mere dull coloured paper scraps. I didn’t want to cut up more papers just to make an ATC.

So I simply created a collage with a hodgepodge of phrases, adding some lines with a light grey Staedtler triplus fineliner pen. It isn’t exactly representative of the project, but the various words would meet the purpose of this ATC.

A Trio of ATCs

As I usually make an Artist Trading Card to record my crafting projects, I decided to create one about my Daiso encouragement cards while all the washi tapes are still on the table. It was short work to trim some spare cardstock into 3.5″ x 2.5″ then lined the long edges with washi tape from Daiso Botanical series.

I selected another positive sentiment from the stack of stickers I used for the encouragement cards and a pretty ATC is formed! Looking at the pile of stickers I thought I might as well use up more of them! No reason why I should use only the white floral washi tape and neglect the other 3 colours in the same series, right? So I cut more cardstock, and in a few short steps, a trio of ATCs is created!

To add some variety I trimmed the four corners of each ATC with a corner punch. Now I’ve 3 extra little message cards! Perhaps I should make a whole bunch more???

Maiko-san ATC

When clearing my bedside table I found some facial oil blotting paper that I bought during our previous holiday trip to Japan – which happened so many years ago I’ve lost count!

As such, I was rather dubious about using the papers, despite them not having an expiry date. Instead, I decided to use the translucent papers for crafting.

The package cover features a maiko-san (an apprentice geisha in Kyoto) illustration: this I fussy cut to place against the other half of the cover, which features the product description in traditional Japanese format. The thin translucent oil blotting paper is torn into size and sandwiched between the 2 items for a contrast of colour & texture.

Other items on the cover (seals and words) are also fussy cut and added to the composition to achieve the final look. Can you spot where I placed the red seal mark?

I’m now wondering how best to keep this ATC as a memory to my favourite oil blotting paper brand from my youth……should I file it, or should I add it to one of my journal pages??

Recent ATCs

I had some cut-offs from the Artists’ Papers when making the double-sided tag flip (here and here), so I trimmed these to 2.5″ x 3.5″ to make some Artist Trading Cards.

As usual, my intention is to record my crafting adventures in an ATC, and hence I used the materials involved in making the tag flip. It is not only much faster to create the ATCs when all the materials are still on the table, the paper scraps are used up immediately and hence less to go into the bin/recycling pile!

Bits of string and coffee sleeve are layered with paper scraps for a simple & quick design. The sentiments were cut from the same Winter issue of the Somerset Studio magazine I worked from for the tag flip.

Of course, sometimes it’s necessary to add in fresh items to achieve the look you want. I made sure to take the button and wooden embellishment from the same set of stash I used for the tag flip.

Actually I need only one ATC for my collection. It’s a hard decision to make, but I’m putting the other 3 cards aside to give away in future. My problem now is which one of the four to keep!!!
